Pipe Repair & Replacement Services We Offer

Plumber clamping a burst copper pipe spraying water in a Toronto basement

Emergency Burst Pipe Repair

A burst pipe can dump hundreds of litres of water into your home within an hour. We dispatch 24/7 to shut off the source, assess the damage, and replace the failed section same-day. We use correct-diameter fittings and proper solder or crimp techniques — no quick-clamp patches that fail again in three months.

New PEX and copper repiping with a manifold in a Toronto basement

Full-Home Copper & PEX Repiping

If your home has galvanized steel or polybutylene pipes (common in Toronto homes built before 1990), the interior is likely corroding or has already been compromised. We repipe the full supply system using durable copper for main shut-offs and freeze-resistant flexible PEX for branches — a permanent solution, not a band-aid.

Plumber pointing to a pinhole leak in a copper pipe behind an opened bathroom wall

Hidden Drywall Leak Repair

Pinhole leaks are the worst kind — they hide behind drywall for months, slowly saturating wood studs and creating ideal conditions for mould growth before the ceiling finally shows a stain. We use acoustic listening and thermal imaging to find the exact leak location with minimal wall opening, then repair it cleanly.

Plumber insulating a frost-covered copper pipe in a Toronto basement in winter

Frozen Pipe Thawing & Prevention

When water freezes inside a copper or PEX supply line, it expands and splits the pipe seam. We thaw frozen pipes safely using electronic resistance heaters — never open-flame torches, which carry fire risk and can damage surrounding materials. We then repair split sections and advise on insulation to prevent recurrence.

Plumber installing a new quarter-turn shut-off valve and braided supply line under a bathroom vanity

Supply Line & Shut-Off Valve Replacement

Braided supply lines under sinks and toilets have a typical lifespan of 5–10 years. When they fail, they can flood a room in minutes. We replace worn lines and corroded shut-off valves before failure — and during any repair visit, we check these as part of our standard inspection.

Galvanized & Polybutylene Pipe Replacement

Many older Toronto homes still have galvanized steel pipes that rust shut from the inside, or grey polybutylene lines that crack without warning. We replace them section by section or throughout the house with copper or PEX, and pressure-test every joint before we leave.

Kitec Plumbing Replacement

Kitec is a plastic-and-aluminium water pipe that was sold from about 1995 to 2007, so it turns up in many GTA houses and condos built or renovated in those years. It is usually orange for hot water and blue for cold, and it is joined with brass fittings. Those fittings can corrode from the inside and start to leak, which is why many home insurers ask whether a house has Kitec. Look at the pipes near your water heater, your main shut-off and under your sinks: orange and blue pipe with brass fittings is the usual sign. If you are not sure, we can check it on any visit.

We replace Kitec with copper or PEX, either the whole house in one job or in planned stages, and route the new lines to keep wall and ceiling openings to a minimum.

When Is It Time to Repipe Your Home?

We do full-home repiping with copper or PEX in houses and condos, and we tell you before we start which walls and ceilings need to be opened.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I have galvanized pipes that need replacing?
Galvanized steel pipes were the standard in Toronto homes built before approximately 1960. Signs include persistent low water pressure (the interior corrodes and narrows over time), orange or brown-tinged water, and visible rust or white scale on exposed pipes. A simple visual inspection of your basement supply lines can confirm — galvanized pipe looks dull grey and will be magnetic. We'll assess for free during any service visit.
How long does a full-home repipe take?
A typical detached Toronto home repipe takes 2–4 days depending on size and layout. We work systematically room by room, minimizing the time any individual fixture is without water. Most households retain partial water access throughout the job. We can provide a detailed schedule before starting so you can plan accordingly.
Do I need permits for pipe repair or repiping in Toronto?
For like-for-like repairs (replacing a section of burst pipe), no permit is typically required. For full home repiping or significant layout changes, a plumbing permit from the City of Toronto is required. We handle the permit application as part of the project scope and ensure all work passes the required inspection.
Can you repair a pipe without opening my walls?
In some cases, yes — pipe lining (CIPP) can rehabilitate a drain line from the inside without excavation. For supply line repairs, we typically need to access the pipe, but we use acoustic and thermal imaging to open the minimum area necessary. Most wall repairs involve a single, precisely located access point rather than a long trench through drywall.
